BM1 over 35
Hi,
Does anyone know of a person with a BMI of over 35 who HAS been accepted (assuming blood tests are OK) of course?
Not sure if we are going to have a problem with my husband's weight and if I am getting my hopes up for nothing at the moment!!
Thanks,
Marion

If your BMI is 36 or more, all they do is an extra blood test to check your lipid & glucose levels...shouldn't be a problem if you're otherwise healthy.
Mine was 36 when I had my medical, I turned up ready starved (as I knew it was going to be high) so that I wouldn't have to go back for the extra blood tests! They came back within the week...no problem!
Don't worry too much about it...good luck

If he is otherwise fit & well, he should be ok...although he might be better to try & reduce it a little, just to be on the safe side. Just don't let him starve himself to bring it down too quick or he could do himself more harm than good!
Have you got your medicals booked yet?

No. Not even sent in EOI cos we didn't know if this would go against us.
We are going to the Opportunities Exp09 in B'ham at end of March and hoped to get some definite ideas from the Immigration folk.
But I wondered if we were totally wasting our time and we would be best waiting a year or so for him to lose weight. But we want to go NOW if we can!!

Don't panic!!
If he starts slowly cutting down now & doing a little exercise, he'll easily get his BMI down to 35/36 by the time you have your medicals. You don't need them until you get your ITA so you've got a good couple of months or so.
He'll be fine...don't worry!

Even better - we've got a treadmill!
I'll give him his due - he's REALLY trying hard! More than can be said for me.
You know what it's like - Yes, dear, let's buy a treadmill. I PROMISE I will use it..........

Re: BM1 over 35
I'd rather not say, ashamed...
But mine was over 40!
And yes it took about 3 separate rounds of extra tests, totally about 3-4months extra work and costs. But other than weight nothing came back as a problem and i got PR.
So dont panic on the "recommended" BMI, if you can show your trying to lose it, and they dont find any other problems... she'll be good bro
