The south island robins are so trusting that if you stand still for long enough they will jump onto your shoes and tug at your laces.

This photo was taken a couple of evenings ago from our dining area. We have a large window which looks out onto our mini wooded area which has manuka, ferns and tree ferns as well as other shrubby/tree type growth. There he/she was. Just sitting on a bough . We just sat and watched the owl for ages until the twilight faded to dusk. T'was magical .

There are a pair of birds in our street who live here and are always together. They love chatting and chirruping together. They look like magpies but are slightly larger and have a grey chest. What are they ?
