Best/Worst Month to find work

Best/Worst Month to find work
Got my PR in the mail last week 
- so now have a year to get out to New Zealand..
I'm in no huge rush - as I would prefer to emigrate into a NZ Summer - rather than a Winter. But as I may well move out without a job - I'm wandering what are the best/worst months to find work there (like in the UK April/May are good months - and December is dead).

edit: also - when does the tax year start in NZ?

then they all take their holidays in january, return to work around 17th jan, and slowly pick up. by feb they know what staff they need, and the agencies start picking up work end of feb.
(just my experience!)

My OH went to NZ in November for interviews & was offered jobs in December
I think it depends on the industry. If there's a critical skills shortage, I don't think time of year makes a lot of difference. Having said that, I'd agree with Dreamfish about the Christmas period.

Agreed - I was lucky because I got a job in early November but December and January are definitely out for job hunting - everyone's arranging a Christmas do every other day for the whole Christmas period.
