The England cricket team will be arriving at the end of January for a series of three Twenty20s, three one-days and three test matches.
So who is going to go?
And the big question if you are - will you be wearing an England shirt or have you now converted to beige?

I've got family coming over for the Dunedin test, can't wait. It's going to be a great month or so, England Cricket team are in town, Stone Rosesplay Auckland, family visiting from England, Wellington Pheonix are coming to Dunedin, Vodafone Warriors are playing Dunedin and my kitchen night just be about finished.
Ive got a big Barnsley FC St George's Cross planned for the cricket.

In Auckland all three formats of the game are going to be played and because the tickets here don't cost a small fortune and are easier to get hold of than in England I will get to watch them all.
I will be wearing an England shirt. I do own a Beige Brigade shirt (it was a present from my Kiwi in-laws) but I won't be wearing it.

A year ago I was planning to go over for some or all of the Test series, but then in about April I decided to I was going to investigate about emigrating and put plans to travel over for the Cricket on hold.
Obvs the good news is that the emigration is confirmed, the bad news is that I will have to wait until 2018 now ... :-(
Mind you, the British Lions will over in June/July 2017, so that'll be a fun 9 months or so.
I've been to Seddon Park and The Basin Reserve on previous travels for some Tests, and have had a throughly enjoyable experience.
Sure, it's not at all like watching Cricket anywhere in England. But I do appreciate the combination of almost feeling like you're watching club cricket - lower attendance, ability to go for a stroll within view of the action, have your own space for a large picnic, etc - whilst some reasonably decent Cricket going on out in the middle.
Enjoy the Cricket, I'm jealous, although I realise the jealousy created is all of my own doing. If I was feeling particularly carefree I may just have popped over for the Cricket in Feb under the guise of "house hunting for when we arrive", or something like that ... But my wife quashed this theory some time ago on equally spurious grounds

I'll be attending the second and third days play in Dunedin. $100 in total for 3 adults and a youngster to be on a hill. It's gonna remind me of Adelaide and Cape Town. Real fun watching cricket and being able to lie around, do other things etc instead of being in a seat all day.
Now like Adelaide, if Michael Vaughan is there - i'll get me Wednesday shirt on. Was shocked when he came and had a chat mainly because of the shirt I was wearing. Hopefully lightning strikes twice and if he is there, the young one can have a wee chat.
I am looking at T20 tickets in Wellington as well. The one in Auckland is a no go since it's on my anniversary day. She's not that annoying enough to go to the match and potentially see letters from her solicitor

I am also going to the Dunedin test and I will look out for your flag.
If you can work out which one is my flag I will send you some karma

Sounds like the Barmy Army are basing themselves in the Captains Cook boozer up near the cricket ground. So I'll meet you all in there.

Yes, got my friend over from Brisbane to watch the 20/20 at the Westpac. I'm hoping she will return the favour by snapping up some Ashes tickets for me
hoping to get to a day at the Basin for the Wellington test too. I will be supporting England but not in the same way as I would be supporting them against Oz (if that makes sense). I'm just hoping for some entertaining cricket and I know it will be a great party atmosphere!

Yeah going to the Games up here in Auckland then got tickets for the 20/20 at the Westpac and for the Dunedin Test match. Cant wait! Starts in less than a month now. Tickets being $30 ish is such good value for money

On current form, i wouldn't buy tickets for the fifth day of any of the test matches...

Theres about five of us England fans from Paraparaumu beach coming down watch the third 20/20 at the Basin. Might even do Napier for The ODI if I can spare the time.

Went to the Auckland test - cracking day out - cheap too! Sitting in the sun all day drinking beer instead of working: it's OK.
Anyone keeping an eye on the first Ashes test today? It's going well. I know!

It was going well, super bowling to get the Aussies out for 295, but batting what a shocker. That effort was pathetic, right back to the 90's or the 2006-7 whitewash.
I was confidently expecting 3-1 series win, after all the Aussie team at the moment are poor, not a win all year (though that's bound to change now), and I couldn't believe we'd bat as bad as we did in the English summer when only Bell performed.
Instead from 82-2, losing 6 wickets for 9 runs to virtually throw the game away. Can't blame the bowlers for failing to take a wicket in the second innings to date, they can hardily have been expecting to bowl again today. So the Aussie's are now going to have fun tomorrow before leaving us to see full two days out - barring an absolute miracle we'll be one down and giving the Aussies super confidence for the rest of the series.
Problem is we now have, Captn Cook struggling form, Trott ditto, Carberry new to the game, Pieterson anything's possible, Bell bound to be due a failure, Root looking out of his depth after a decent start in India and here last year, Prior a walking duck since he left NZ earlier this year. All of which means we continuing to rely on massive performances by the bowlers.
Still we are playing the worst Aussie team in generation so anything's possible yet.
