The best sightings for a long time was a few weeks ago. We had cloud.

Last night the person that owns The Gates , Tasman , captured a rosy glow via his mobile phone around 11:30pm. If the sky was clear down south then The Lady may have danced a little. We didn't see it here as we were in our beds. The day had been mostly cloudy . Unlikely anyway with the naked eye which is what I am after really , although I realise there would not be colours as such.

The Glendale App is helpful if a bit confusing .
There is a FB page called Aurora Australis (NZ) which is really helpful and has fact sheets so one can learn. Even then I tend to latch onto what others are predicting may be so as they have the far better experience.
