Re: Auckland rental meltdown.
Tell me about it!
We are currently looking for a 3 bed property, and really struggling to get a nice one in a good area for under $750. Those that are less can be really poor inside, or not even have a deck as outside space. When I was searching from the UK 6 months ago to get an idea of costs and areas there was a lot more for our money. We have had to up the budget to get anything on a par with what we had in Kent (not particularly cheap area), so will mean we have less money for other things.

Auckland will cool off soon in regards to property prices and rents, as affordability falls people will just say "stuff it" and move back to the countryside or Australias cheaper areas.

Re: Auckland rental meltdown.
We are looking around the Mission Bay/St Heliers area and inland from there, up as far as Greenhithe/Mairangi Bay, across maybe to Titirangi. We realise we are picky, we want something in good decorative order, hopefully insulated, with some form of heating, a court yard at least and within 1.5k ish of some facilities. Maybe we have great expectations, but got to be happy where you live

That'll explain it, in mission bay and St Helliers you've chosen two of the most exclusive areas in the city
Theres plenty on the North shore but as you say its a personal thing
