Hey Charlie,
How exciting for you both! Laura (my partner) is a nurse and works at North Shore Hosp. She works in ED (an extension of it...) we both live very close to the hospital. I know she's much healthier working there than she was back in the NHS! We arrived in NZ in June last year.
Good luck with your move, its a great thing to do.
We'd be up for meeting up as well as in truth.. we haven't made a huge amount of friends, buts its been nice being able to focus on us for a change.
David.

Thanks for that, not long now! So that's quite strange, I might be working with Laura then at the ED in a few months. Is nursing good out there then? I am hoping to do long shifts like here. I am pretty sick of the NHS to be honest, especially at the A & E I work at the moment. So will be great to try something new.
Do you work on the shore as well? Jamie doesn't have a job there yet as he wants to try his hand at a different career completely.
Take care, Charlie

Hi,
Just wanted to say welcome and safe travels.
My partner (29) and I (27) moved to New Zealand about 5 months ago now, we are living in St Heliers and I work at Auckland City Hospital - feel free to give us a shout if you fancy a meet up once your feet hit the ground!![Thumbs Up](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Thanks for that offer, very nice. Hope you guys are enjoying NZ - how has the first 5months been for you both? If and when I do get this job, the Auckland hospitals will be under my remit - as I will be in the medical device industry for minimally invasive surgery. So we may well meet if you work in these theatres?? I will let you know how things progress. My (would be) boss is currently in the states and is back on Monday so I will hopefully have a (Skype) meeting with her and HR on her return, next week.
Thanks again.
Phil.

Hey,
We could meet up at ACH (Auckland city hospital) or in the CBD once you're settled if you like....you really wouln't want to see me in a theatre - I am a dietitian (currently working in renal) - so I don't think mid-surgery I would be of any use!![Wink](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Did anyone meet up on Friday? Sorry I couldn't make it, I had a shocker of a day and then worked saturday so had a quiet one - any plans for another meet up anyone?
How are you all getting along with packing and moving...if there is anything I can help with just shout![Thumbs Up](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Yes... you might be working with her soon! Although she works on ADU which is part of ED in a way.. but separate. From listening to Laura... and she talks a lot!... nursing out here on the whole seems much better in terms of getting breaks, staff levels and general shift patterns. Sure it has its bad days.. they don't always have some of the modern stuff that she was accustomed to in the UK... but she's much healthier than she was!
I work in the city but get one of the buses over the bridge in the mornings. I did not come out here to commute aka sitting in traffic like I used to all of the time at home. Catching the bus and reading a book en route is like a dream.
Good luck to your both, happy to try and answer any other Q's you guys may have. Be good to meet up once you're here.
Take care,
David.

Hey!! Jumping on this thread.
My OH has visa and flights booked for 26th April.
He has Job in Penrose and hotel accom for 1 month. Fingers crossed I will be joining him in July if my visa gets back. Should know this week and no real reason why it shouldn't be accepted. And that is all we have done so far LOL!! Bit stuffed in terms of timescales and will be left to me LOL!! Anyway, Auckland will be our base but no idea as yet. I teach Primary School chn (yr 6) and desp need to get something sorted. know it will be tough. We would like to live somewhere Northshore but know rent will be high, hence i will need to work ASAP. We both still young - 33 and 35 and desp to get a better quality of life. Love socialising and going out so defo up for meeting up. Know OH is gonna find 3 months on his own a real struggle. On another note, do you know any good packers / shipping companies?? We gonna ship stuff out I think!! Taa, Karen x
