Auckland Accomodation Advice
Hi Guys,
A few questions for you.
I have just received a couple of job offers for hospitals in Auckland and I am interested in any thoughts about travel and neighbourhoods that would be suitable for Middlemore Hospital in South Auckland.
We will be moving in May/June and will be bringing a very young baby with us. We will not have access to a car, at least for a while, so good public transport is a must.
Everything I've read says South Auckland is a nightmare etc, etc....is it really THAT bad?
What areas with good transport links to Middlemore would you live in? I've looked at Mangere Bridge and that seems charming but what else in the surrounding area or adjacent to the train line would be safe and affordable?
I have tons of other questions but I'll pace myself
Thanks!

I have a friend who works at Middlemore & lives in Dannemora. She seems happy enough there. Not visited it myself though.

Hi
Dannemora is fine (we live up the road in Cockle Bay). Good bus links from Botany Town Centre - bus goes to Middlemore during the week (weekend it's bus and train). Botany Town Centre has good range of shops plus the bowling rink (currently closed due to a fire but reopening end of year I think), ice skating rink, cinema and very good schools (Point View Primary, Somerville Intermediate and Botany Downs Secondary College).
Lot of places to eat out and a pub - Cock n Bull.
