Anyone know a reliable weather site
really would like to get to grips with the ever changing weather. the Metservice one is next to useless and looking out the window at 8am means nothing come 9.30am.

I'm afraid that you'll have to accept that New Zealand weather forecasts are merely a suggestion!
Not come across anything accurate as yet.

Re: Anyone know a reliable weather site
That's easy!
Kapiti = sun. Wellington = cloud and/or rain and/or wind.
There you are sorted (true for yesterday and today anyway).
In other words no. The weather varies so much in such a small area and changes so fast the met service often get it wrong.

Loving that and so true.
Thanks Moso - just keep rubbing it in , keep going from one extreme to another on where to live coming to conclusion that unless we move right into Welly we're not going to get K into anywhere other than Kapiti or Paraparam (sp) so might as well join you up there

www.accuweather.com pretends to know what's happening for the next 15 days...

Pretend is the word....
http://www.accuweather.com/en/nz/wai...orecast/250955 currently says "mostly cloudy" and I can't see any clouds in the sky.
At least it's sunny in Pukerua Bay too in reality!

And www.tutiempo.es (spanish) is a good one for historical records. Kinda cool to be able to look up the weather records from your date of birth or summut.

Are you suggesting the pine cone on a string outside the back window method isn't accurate??
The best I've found is local.msn.com/worldweather.aspx you can access it through a widget on your desktop

This is the way I peg what the weather will do for the day.
I stand on my deck looking North. Sea to the right. Ranges to the left.
If the clouds go East to West then there is trouble ahead.
If the clouds go West to East then all is well .

Look at the rain radar tab on metservice that's pretty accurate if you want know whether or not it's going to be wet within the next few hours.

A crystal ball would be more useful sometimes. It annoys me, when it is pissing down with rain and all the weather sites are saying it's a lovely sunny day.
