Any decent NZ lagers?!!!
Haven't sampled any NZ lager yet... and only a couple of wines... but which lagers do u guys recommend?
No pressure... but off to countdown in cbd in about 30mins
I could buy Amstel or something else I like... but would like to try something different

+1!
Read your message in the shop and picked up a 12 pack of Montleiths Pilsner... one has gone down... very nice I must say.
I was toying with the Golden Beer variety but opted for the "Eastern European" Pilsner instead

Watch out for the nasty next day hangovers you get with the beer. We thought we were total lightweights and couldnt understand how we ended up easily drunk on little beer with huge heads to! I read up about it and apparently beers in different areas have different contruients (not sure if spelt correctly) therefore if your not use to it can get you drunk quickly.
Sorry of Ive stated the obvious but it made me feel better!

[QUOTE=tonrob;9526154]Jesus - no need to buy crap like that! Good, local craft breweries spring up here and there - check out Beer Advocate to read up on them and look at reviews of their beers. (Edit - site seems to be tits up right now, probably just maintenance - try again
Are you confused by what I said or that you feel no effect from the beer?

I think in NZ a lot sold is Amstel Lite, which is low alcohol crap.
Monteiths is the most tasteless pap Ive ever had, and I have sampled all their brews.
Speights Summit is pretty dire, Macs Gold slightly better.
For me , the only one is Steinlager original (not the pure). Stella is ok but relatively expensive
