Answer this........?
Even after several years of living here, there are things I still don't know or understand about this country and some unfathomable things that seem ridiculous or may never make any sense at all.
There are still plenty of lightbulb moments when things suddenly click and fall into place; some strange things you never noticed were different before or just quietly wondered ....what the hell.... or why???? In the spirit of 'there's no such thing as a stupid question' lets see where this goes. My question for today is this: Why do the shops insist upon taking the skins off of red onions and not the brown or white ones? I find them really offputting and they just don't look 'right', they look old and tired or pehaps it's boiled I don't know. I'll only buy them if I see them intact with the proper papery skin attached. Not really expecting an answer unless anyone really knows, just interested in other's questions and quirky observations. |

How does Pak n Save get away with mugging people by putting prices up on items, just so that they can advertise them as specials for $5 week? Duh!!
Usual price $4.79, this week can be yours for just $5  Usual price $2.49, this week on special offer - 2 for $5  |
Re: Answer this........?
Why is it often cheaper to buy 2 x smaller packs than 1 larger pack of the same product?
|
Re: Answer this........?
Often find the same in UK supermarkets. For several months I bought 2 boxes of teabags and 2 jars of coffee, as cheaper than the single double size ones. Also, my favourite crisps (Walkers Sensations Thai Sweet Chilli ), 1 bag 99p or special offer 2 for £2.00!

Re: Answer this........?
Why do people strip the outer leaves off of things like cauliflowers and corn on the cob and throw them away in the shop?
Is it cos they is too tight and concerned about taking up valuable space in their own rubbish bin? |

Re: Answer this........?
Well my bugbear has been WHY DO THEY SPRAY WATER ON THE PRODUCE?
Honestly, if anything is going to cause a faster deterioration is moisture on the fruit & veg. I can't believe it's done for asthetic reasons but apparently it is. I always check prices & you're right, more often than not it's cheaper to buy 2 smaller. Also, how about the laughable Manager's Cut? I saw 2c off a toaster price of $49.98 as a SPECIAL. Are there really gullible people who'd fall for that? |
Re: Answer this........?
when i see things advertised in supermarkets i tend to look on the shelves below, its a trick employed by supermarkets to put specials at eye level, with specials not always being the best price, check out the lower shelves where you tend not to look as its below eye level

Re: Answer this........?
In three weeks time when the RWC comes to an end and everyone has done congratulating themselves, licking their wounds or dancing on the tables, what on earth will people have to talk about?
