Manuka Honey (ma-noo-ka, honey!) - the last bit of desperate pleading within the conversation that a man has with his spouse when trying to convince her that they really want to buy that V8 Holden with the big fat exhaust

She'll Be Right - a mantra used by most New Zealanders to remind female drivers of the crazy Right Turn rule whilst driving, first introduced by a government advertising campaign in 1978 which featured a young Lucy Lawless (see Xena Warrior Princess)

Sweet As, Bro - derived from the term "Sweet ASBO" which were issued to children caught stealing lollies from their local dairy

Rotorua (as in, "you've just done a rotorua, bro!") - a colloquial term for a really really excessively pungent passing of wind

Fox Glacier - a failed attempt at the record for the largest boiled minty sweet/lolly in the world, not to be mentioned to your glacier guide at any point as they are convinced its a real glacier, honest

Haast Pass - a local rugby term, probably used to describe something illeagal the French did at the World Cup last year

Auckland - derived from some Scottish bloke on James Cook's voyage, who on spotting the North of the North Island said, "Och, Land!"

Helen Clark - a local term of unknown source for a hermaphrodite

Royal New Zealand Air Force - a collective term for one helicopter and a bunch of parachutes

Nelson - named after the famous character from The Simpsons, locals can often be seen pointing and uttering the phrase "ha - ha" at tourists who decide to spend more than a few days here

Speights - a southern term for when you have done something really stupid after consuming too much local beer (as in "we had Speights of drink drivers"), note Speights is NOT the final frontier, thats down in Invercargill

Shortland Street - a local term for a place where local out of work hobbits gather to while away the time while they wait for the next JRR Tolkein movie...

Summer Ale - served in the months of October to March, simply to confuse those from the Northern Hemisphere

Christchurch - shortened form, derived from a commonly heard exclamation from British tourists who come to visit, generally something along the lines of "Christ you call that a Church, have they never seen Westminster or been to York???"

Haka - term used for a footballer (see Soccer) who kicks a lot of people during a game

Goodbye Pork Pie - A NZ film that launched the career of Sam Neill, full title is "Goodbye Pork Pie, Hello Cheese & Steak Pie", but is often just kept at the shortened version for overseas distribution

Pavlova (Pav-Lova) a term used to describe an afficiando of the works of Luciano Pavorotti

its raining and snowing here at the moment so think you can eat them! I'd eat some too if I had any. Will be heading your way later in year so will stick a few in the container for you if you like!!
