Hope everyone is ok. Just watched the tv footage and have to commend the store manager for saving the kids in the upturned car. Who would have thought that passing clowns would also come in useful!!

Yeah of all the things I wouldn't expected to have seen clowns on the breaking news footage

Amazing as well that it hit the empty Placemakers store and not the busy Farmers next door! Dodged a bullet there.

I was on the Auckland Bridge at the time it went over the harbor. Wife was trying to ring me in a panic, but I couldn't see anything as the weather was awful.

All OK here, it clipped the egde of Pinehurst School grounds where my three girls are, two saw it and all are fine. Some damaged roofs etc nearby but think the Megacentre came off by far the worst and I >think< most of the casualties were there. Sympathies to families of those involved.

Myself & OH are fine...nearly went to Albany today as well. Flowerpot was only a couple of metres away from it in her office but she's fine too.

And for those who want to see Cornflake the clown: http://tvnz.co.nz/close-up/s2011-05-03-video-4152527
Possibly the most surreal tv broadcasting I have ever seen!

It went right by hubby's office, recorded it from his office window. I thought it was a wind up when he rang me! Hubby's colleague was in Westfield Mall when it hit and her car has been written off as it was thrown around the carpark but she is ok. My brother also just left Farmers and I'm glad he did as he would have been in there, it was his boss that performed CPR on the victim So very tragic.

They say it formed in Silverdale, I drove through that black cloud only 30 minutes before it hit Albany as a tornado

Got a panic on wheh i heard " a tornado has struck causing wide spread damage north of Auckland"
I was just hoping my new little beach house at Arkles bay was still in one piece.
Luckilly it was some way away but i started flapping all the same

Good to hear everone here has escaped the carnage.
