I have just returned form the East side of OZ...all i can say is WOW:thumbsup:

I am bewildered even more now. We are planning on going back to the UK in August after living in boring Perth for 2 years. After our mini trip to the East, we are so confused. We loved it over there...!

Loved NSW and QLD. WA:thumbdown:

What's one to do...i know i will still miss my family in UK, but don't know if i dare do the whole big move again. :unsure:

I'm worried it will just be a novalty thing again though..holiday mode and all that...and the money it will cost to move. God, my head is a mess.

I don't know about the cost involved but you're already in Aus...so why not give it a go? You probably won't get another chance. Give yourself some sort of timeline and if you're not settled return home.

Obviously I don't know to what extent you like the east and you have to weigh that up vs. the UK.

Well, that'll have set the cat among the pigeons for you!! Big decision time now I can see - good luck with it.

We have spent a lot of time in Qld before, and travelled up this year via NSW, so agree with you they are nice. However, for me, not nice enough to compensate for how much I want to return home.. still just lovely holiday destinations.

Hope your pondering gets the results you need; whatever that will be :thumbsup:

I think we will have a re-think in a couple of weeks, see how we feel then, once the hoiliday head has settled. One thing is for sure, Perth is definately a no-go 100%.
But over East has to be one of our best holiday's. So glad we went.

Then it's at least done what it should have - given you a break, some breathing space to really think (again!) through your decisions. And a fab holiday to remember, to boot!

we lived in perth,i hated it,the choice was go home or try qld,im doing alot better now,:thumbup:

After 20yrs in Sydney we couldnt wait to get to Perth to live near the beach. Tried Joondalup,then port kennedy and hated it. 2yrs later we shifted up to qld. 10 times better but if you miss u.k for all its good and bad then qld is still oz. good luck anyway.

I say give QLD a go. As a previous poster has said you will never know. I live in QLD and I am 50/50 about staying. I am finding it easy to stay at the moment because the economy in the UK is on the slide an jobs in my profession have practically disappeared since I came out here 16 months ago.
We have had no problem with flies and we have not turned the AC on once yet, not even come close. I still miss the UK but if I leave it will be because I miss the UK too much not because there is anything wrong with Oz...although I am disappointed I don't like it more.

I loved it over there and plan to head back that way for another Hol maybe next year (although there is talk about Bali with friends in the offing at the mo)

Oh heck...that's bound to mess with your head!!:eek:

Now you've got to ponder the following;

1) If you don't move over east, will you always wonder "What if?"

2) If you do move over east and it still doesn't work you can at least say you gave Oz your all.

3) If you do move over east, it'll cost a fair bit of dosh. Will you still have enough to go home if you want to?


Go away and settle your head for a bit. Then do some financial planning. If it turns out you want to try the east coast, put a time limit on it, say 6 -12months, you'll know whether you're going to like it after then. If it's not working, go home knowing you've given it everything.

Our biggest regret is not moving to Melbourne in the first place. Ours might've had a better ending. Yours still could :thumbup:

think before you come back to the uk ,we was on the gold coast have a good look around i wished we tried a bit more now we are back in the uk we do miss australia a lot now :unsure:
