Angry This will turn me to drink...

So I had my pre-move trip to Houston (turns out to be nicer than I expected) and got back to the UK on Sunday. Unfortunately none of my bags did. Got a phone call from the courier yesterday to say he was outside my door with the bags but there was no answer. That was because he was at a house 250 miles away. Today, hurrah bags arrived. Well, two of them did. The third bag arrived on the flight, arrived with the first courier (for the wrong address) and was passed to the 2nd courier for my address. At that point it has gone missing in action. The missing bag is the one with all the visa paperwork the immigration lawyer drew up for our appointment next week.

Do I really want to trust KLM with my dog in Sept when they can't manage to deliver my luggage?

If it were me I'd make sure the dog had a 1st Class seat and the kids went in the baggage hold.

Crikey, lesson to be learned there, I think.

Easy to be wise after the event, but I NEVER put anything important in checked baggage. Never ever ever...

Yeah I know. The paperwork ended up being 2 large folders by the time all the financial reports from the company and other paperwork were in and it was just too big to comfortably be hand luggage. With hindsight we should just have lugged it around with us! Hopefully they'll find the bag.

Am I alone in finding it suspicious that the courier company were sure it was in the van to be delivered but then the delivery man doesn't seem to have it? It also had the presents we had bought in. Wonder if his family has any birthdays coming up?

I hope you get it all sorted out quickly. Just more stress you don't need!
I am battling with KLM at the moment. They have charged me twice for the same ticket and I cannot seem to get my money back, nor can I talk to a live person about it. Infuriating.

I know what you mean. I was given a number for the airport to call that just went to a fax machine and a special business class number for the bags. The elite team number hung up on you with every option you picked and told you to check their website or write to them. Excellent customer service!
Have just had a phone call to say the courier that definately didn't have my case in his van actually did and I should get it tomorrow. Do you think he is spending tonight getting my belongings back to pack in my case?

Presuming you paid by credit card...why don't you call the CC company and put it into dispute. That way they will credit you for one of the tickets and sort it out for you.

Thumbs up Re: This will turn me to drink...

This sounds like a nightmare - all I can offer is moral support and pray it gets sorted very soon. My docs are being FedEx'd as we speak so I have some small sense of your angst.

I couldn't resist responding to this though...

Steady - this might catch on big time, then you'd be on Oprah and Jay Leno and who knows where things will end... Secretary General of the UN?

I am one of those people that don't like credit cards, (I know!) so paid with a debit card as usual. I have contacted the bank and have filled out the dispute form as it was basically an unauthorized withdrawal. I have also fired off letters to the CEO etc, for what good that will do. Made me feel better after the rant though. It just makes me so mad that I can't talk to anyone. You can only communicate by e-mail and you get a computer generated response. Plus the fact that it was KLM's error and I have been waiting weeks now to get my money back.
In all fairness, I do have to say that I have been using KLM for many years now and have never had any kind of problem before apart from the odd delayed piece of luggage that has always arrived on the next flight. It will be interesting to see if I hear back from the CEO.

Well the bag that was found in Glasgow last night and would be delivered today has been lost again. OH got a phonecall at work asking him to describe it and now they think they have it in London. It will be delivered tomorrow. Hmmmm, I've heard that before!

I know 3 cases are a bit extreem! OH was there for 3 weeks so he took 2 cases and I travelled out separately and took one. OH took the opportunity to take some of his booze collection over and so took 2 cases! Then we filled the space back up with things folk had asked for us to bring back for them.

As work paid this was business class travel so I can only presume that had we been normal class on this flight our cases would have been thrown into the North Sea for us to fish out ourselves

Hope your tickets get sorted Chumly!

Get yourself a credit card and make it works for you...not you for it. I've had a CC for decades and never paid a penny interest.
