You know Tracey, my wife suggested the very same the other day, but then said after an hour an half , it never exists....
However although she could never replicate the freedome Shirley got, or I could be stranded in WA with just females between 25and 35 all single, etc, there is a reason why we came, and I for one wont let it go....
I understand you guys dont like it here and are home sick, or just dont get it, trapped etc, until you get back, but I have moved on from living in the Uk, I only to well know what its like to give it up, get a wonderful lifestyle them for ridiculous reasons throw it all away again and end up with a dreary existence in england, dont get me wrong I like the Uk, but its not my home anymore....hasnt been for years,
whats a a challenge? for you getting back to blighty, then mission accomplished, for me its other things like extending my education in certain areas in WA and maybe asia pacific,
the biggest challenge i find and so will you lot is to finally hang up the keyboard and start living more of life...maybe with the friends of the inet i dont know thats upto you to agree or disagree, depends on how many millions of posts you put up...

Had a lovely chat, over our shopping trolley's in Woolies, with crystal23 this morning and I happened to mention why I came here. So, I just wondered why you lot did it?
My reasons: I blame Shirley Valentine!!!
Honest I do. I reckon I was having a bit of a mid life crisis, stuck at home with two littlies, bored out of my tree and yearned for adventure and a challenge, you know "Christ Trace, you're only 38. Get out and live a little" so I did, and now I'm here eating my words! I should've looked for a challenge a tad closer to home don't you think?
Oh, and I was seduced by the big house, the pool and the blue skies. Stupid, stupid woman that I am.
So, there's my excuse, what's yours?

So glad it is working for you. Having lived the life here for 29 years I find it banal and boring. Life is not a beach with blue skies, I need more substance than that! My lifestyle needs more variety, depth, community and energy than is around here that is for sure! Some of us have had the life, lived it to the max and now resort to the keyboard because at last we have found that we are not the only ones who have seen through the Emperor's new clothes - we know he is stark buck naked!
Maybe I should watch Shirley Valentine!!!

Why did we do it?
Wish I knew
I can only guess that we were on something at the time

Watched the TV programmes of moving abroad; hubby originally from Canada; had family still there.
So off we went on Holiday; three times; induced by the big house, pool, carefree way of life.
Reality check: big house = big mortgage
Hubby's job offer never materialized
Left too many kids here in the UK
Consequence; back in UK staying with my mum; fighting for schools, doctors, a home etc...

Like most Brits - read too much of the negative newspapers in the UK and thought my kids may be better off in Oz.
Also, have a number of friends already there (just outside Perth) who were constantly telling us how fantastic it was so thought "what the hey" and went for it.
After a couple of weeks, started questioning said friends and asking what on earth they do to fill their time (before 8.30 cos thats bedtime!) and they couldn't give me a decent answer. Then started to let them know I thought the place was utterly dull and my kids had left a very good life in the uk for this. To which some of them agreed!!!!
Happy back in the uk now - kids have had an experience, and I am a little wiser and a little shorter of money. But am happy and settled - something which a swimming pool and 4x2 house etc could never have achieved for me.
It was an itch that needed scratching - so over it now.

Yesterday, whilst having my lovely chat with crystal23, I just happened to spot a chap who'd obviously spent waaaaaay too long at the gym and he was in fine physical form. Well, I happened to comment "Look at the arms on that!" and darling crystal misheard me and thought I said "Look at the arse on that" and that I was referring to a rather buxom woman in the aisle next to said gym man!!! I would never say such a thing about a ladies buttocks due to the fact mine are heading southwards at an alarming rate of knots!!
