I think that the early updates are very good for all that 'what to do & how to do it when I first arrive' stuff. By the time you've done 6 months, there is too much other stuff to put in!

Generally, I find all the 'aus is so awesome & UK so crap' stuff, however long or short a time people have been here, rather nauseating.

Found the happiness here in Canada initially lasted for 10 months before home sickness kicked in. The first two years is the honeymoon period I think. A quick visit to the UK fixed it temporarily but now 5 years later we're heading back to dear old Blighty as soon as the house sells.

Always interesting to hear how others are fairing on their emmigration adventure and congrats to all those who it did work for.

By the way why are the radio stations so dire in Canada?

Soft rock, Adult Orientated Rock, Country Rock.... they all say they're unique, start out good for 2 days then descend into mediocre drivel. Stopped listening a few months ago and now listen to radio from the UK via the Internet.

Whinge complete....feeling better now.

I have to admit, I agree with Margaret. "30 minutes off the plane, into the arrivals lounge, loving it, best move I ever made, now can anyone direct me to the airport exit?" I mean, I know they're excited and everything, but come on, inhale more than two lungfuls of air in your new country before firing up the frigging laptop.

"Hey hey hey, it's me again. Been here an hour now. The taxi rank at the airport rocks!!!!"

Been here 3 years now

and i'd return tomorrow if i could!

not because i hate Oz.. but my life here has been so full of shit and some of it wouldn't have happened in UK because we didn't live like this there (if that makes sense)

We have had one disaster after another and the final nail in the coffin came just last week for me...... that incident may well have happen had we stayed in UK but i would have had my whole family there to support and help.......

here i had my mum (whos visiting) myself and Alan, plus the wonderful help of a couple of friends

I have been through so much shit....i want to give up

Aw, sweetie, {{{hugs}}}

Dont give up, just plan for what is the next best step in your life - there is nothing in the rule book that says you have to stay where you are, you just need to look for opportunities where you find them and look after your own best interests!

Sam I didn't realise you were doing it tough just now. I know we don't see each other all that often but if you need a coffee or something stronger when the kids go back just let me know

I honestly think those are fairly rare. The normal ones are posted by people who are so chuffed that they've managed to actually move and still survived then want to shout to the world that they got to the end of the road without giving up (as many of us feel towards the end of the UK bit).

I think they're just so amazed they've upped and gone, they go slightly overboard with the 'wow it's amazing' There are just as many who post two seconds after they've arrived saying how crap it all is because the taxi driver from the airport ripped them off on the fare.
