Has anyone seen David Dimbleby's Picture of Britain? So, so brilliant. I thoroughly recommend it to everyone going home as he observes Britain's beauty and its rich culture perfectly.

There are plenty of expats living there, I have found a forum which is super friendly, and English is an official language. I have heard that it is cheaper to live there than England or Germany, furnished apartments are easy to find to rent, and cost a lot less than in the UK. Easy access to all major European cities. Great climate (for me, who is used to heat after 26 years in South Carolina). It is a small island, for me that is good, as I have no family or friends left in England so I am at a loss to know where I would live there. But in Malta, not so much choice! Public transport is inexpensive and I won't need to drive a car to get around. Malta and UK have an agreement, so healthcare would not be a problem. I am thinking of giving it a six month try initially. I could go on, pm me if you wish.

Good post AES. What is the job situation like there?

My dad lived for a number of years in Malta after WW2 - I know that's a long time ago  but he always said how warm and friendly the people were.

Possibly Penticton in Canada, for those long hot summers.

Of course, great place. While many dream and look for these exotic destinations, some of the best places are on our doorstep.
