Default Where to move in the UK

I got a Dilema

Basically we are looking to move to the Uk, but unsure what's a good area to live on, that it's not overly expensive.

I have a Web based biz, so wont be looking for a Job.

Trying to find a nice quiet area, where to raise the kids and where one can still purchase a terraced home for 50-70K£ .. but still be a drive away from a big town .. after all, we do need shopping

Any advises ?

options are limited due to budget but not impossible.

try www.rightmove.co.uk one of the biggest uk property searches and put your budget in but leave the location blank. this will throw up a selection of properties across the country to give you a start of the possibilities.

Other useful sites:

www.dfes.gov.uk for school performance tables and www.ofsted.gov.uk for school reports.

www.homecheck.co.uk - enter a postcode to find out about local environmental concerns such as flooding and pollution. You can do the same on the What's In Your Back Yard page on www.environment-agency.gov.uk

www.upmystreet.co.uk to get info on any postcode such as property prices, crime statistics and neighbourhood profiles (average earnings, fave TV channels!).

I live in the North West of England half way between Manchester and Liverpool. If you want a Terraced property you would easily get one in Wigan for that price. It being an old mining town it has lots of terraced but also lots of new build too. It is ideally placed for commuting just off the M6, prices are going up quickly though.

some estate agents for North West are.

Batt and Brown
Bairstow Eves
Borron Shaw
Reeds Rains
Regan and Hallworth

Good luck.
