DH loves his job (the reason we came to Cali), and would find it difficult if not impossible to find anything like it back home. And our sons are now in college - moving back would entail starting again at the beginning and paying mega-huge international fees.
Plus there is still hope that things will change after the next election, and that this country may recover its sanity. Though the next couple of years are not going to be pretty - the reactionaries will do their utmost to tear Hillary apart, and getting out of Iraq is going to be messy...

I agree with you but don't lose hope.America does a political house cleaning every 8-12 years .Wouldn't be surprised if the country is ready for a democrat in the WhiteHouse after all the coruption in the Bush administration.Hillary certainly has a better chance of winning than Rudy.Doubt if the country will elect a mayor for president.Especially a mayor who has 6 marriages between he and his current wife.
