What makes you come back?

Hi to everyone on this forum,
I have never posted on this board, as i am one of many who are leaving UK to go to Canada, but whenever i do look on here, it seems there are so many brits coming home from OZ and NZ, just wondering the reason why? I know you all have different reasons, but is it mainly the distance from UK, or is the lifestyle in OZ just not upto anything compared to uk.
My friend went to OZ last year with hubby and 3 kids, they went to Adelaide and then Perth, but were home to UK in 4 months, said too hot, didn't like the people, no work, she's now happy back in lancs which is great now have a good friend back. I haven't seen many coming back from canada, have only spoken to a few, but not from where i plan to go, Halifax NS. So just a curiosity question so why are so many brits coming home so often?

The two main reasons for me to move back would be family, family, family and education for my two little darlings!

Hi Wendy, I dont think distance is the big issue for those returning from Oz or NZ although it is a factor to consider. Friends & family who we all take for granted when they are nearby are suddenly so much more appreciated when they arent around though. That applies wherever you move to.
When anyone decides to emigrate, they get the ball rolling by filling in the forms, researching as much as they can & waiting.........& waiting! During this time they can be so focused on the end goal that they forget to enjoy the life they already have & become negative about what is around them in UK, perhaps in a way to justify the big move they are so eagerly anticipating.
From the time the visa is issued there is so much to organise that you dont always have time to sit down & figure out if you are 'doing the right thing' & when you first arrive at your destination the 'newness' of it all is overwhelming. Its great to make new friends but you will miss your old ones too.
When the dust has settled after a few months this is when you have time to take stock & appreciate the consequences of emigrating & for many (as you can see on this forum) you realise that what you had in the first place wasnt so bad after all.
Its sods law though that you actually have to go through the whole process to realise this!! Thats life though & it makes us all better people in the end.
Good luck & try to make the most of life here before you go (I know its hard!). Hope you are one of the happy immigrants!

Hi Susan, Been back 6 months now & we cant believe how flippin' brilliant life is right now. The only thing that has changed in this past year is our way of thinking!! Worth all the money we spent just to be like this. Stay happy!

Many reasons to return but main reasons are family, travel and work opportunities and schooling.
For me I was never trying to get away from the UK.....I married an Aussie and we both thought lifestyle etc would be better here and in some ways it is.However the sun is gorgeous but it doesn't rule our lives.
I do wonder how many people would emigrate here if Oz has the same weather pattern as the UK, would they still want to live it !I mean peeps who go to Perth and Brissy mainly.
Nothing stays the same does it....? the weather patterns here in Oz are predicted to change over the next so many years and not for the best.!!Less rain and more heat...pheweeee....!!

Your birthplace. to most, it's in your blood. whether it takes a few months or years, or many many years. You have an empty feeling in your heart and then one day you realize what it is.

Have you been affected by Hurricane Frances? I keep seeing on CNN how badly some communities have been ravaged (but why do they have reporters standing out in the hurricane for goodness' sake?!).
I guess it helps in the decision-making to return to England though!
