Default Virgin Atlantic, even Lower baggage allowance,

think I am done with them forever.

Flew with them to UK July this year, flight from hell, 3 Unacompanied children sitting behind us, kicked, thumped & dangled over the backs of our seats, for roughly 9 hours. Got no help from cabin crew. Food, dreadful. They have useless 13lb, hand luggage.

Maybe this is old news, I just received it.

Final straw just received, this email, from VA Flying Club:

"Confused about baggage allowances? Then this is for you Frank - we're updating our check-in system for all tickets booked from
25 November 2009, so it's as easy as 123:

• Economy Allowance: 1 bag up to 50lbs
• Premium Economy: 2 bags up to 50lbs each
• Upper Class: 3 bags up to 50lbs each

Plus, you can take an additional bag for your sporting equipment and you can even check-in your surf board! Gold card holders also get to take an extra bag, whatever their cabin. So better get packing."

Was 70lb x 2, then 50lb x 2. Now one case 50lb.

To be fair all airlines are jumping on this bandwagon just to survive the recession. Sorry you had a bad flight though

The days of 2 free bags across the pond in economy are just about extinct on any airline.

Just wear all your clothes and then strip down when you get on the plane a la Joey from friends (don't forget to lunge)

Thanks.

Biggest problem of all, airlines have gone to the bad old days, pre The Freddie Lakers (One of the good guys) & Virgin (Before they found the dark side). Lousy service, crappy food, lost luggage & flying us like cattle, knees in your chest. Leaving passengers for several hours or overnight on the runway.
What happened to that period, when they brought around FOC, drinks, papers, hot towels & ice cream bars. At the start of the flight, they gave you a menu, even in Economy; the planes were huge & filled to the brim. Ah, they could not make any money, lost billions, now smaller planes, lousy service, EXPENSIVE tickets, all kinds of restrictions, no leg room, EMPTY planes & still losing Billions.

Our friend just flew from Malaga (AA) to Miami, on in really small plane 2-3-2, every row had only one person, why the hell did they not fill the plane with, people willing to pay $300/400/500. I'm surprised, the plane had enough fuel, or maybe that’s why no passengers.

Was not that long ago, we were paying $199 + $20 tx each way. Whose salary has double or tripled in last few years.

Er.....Singapore Airlines still do this in cattle class, plus 'on demand' in-flight entertainment.....and you still get 2 bags on flights into and out of N.America. The cabin crews are great, very helpful and good with children.

(From New York you would have to fly to Frankfurt then their code-share Star Alliance partner Lufthansa to the Uk regional airports).

Oddly enough, Singapore Airlines owns 49% of Virgin Atlantic.....

Most of the Asian carriers are excellent TBH.
