Hi
We are living in France and have been here for just over 3 years.
I have visited this forum off and on for about 18 months now.
We have been suffering from homesickness for the same length of time and have twice come very close to returning to England but each time have decided to give it longer, also our eldest daughter had said that she didn't want to return to England so we tried harder to settle for her sake.
Now we have made a decision, we are going back. The house has been valued this morning and we are waiting for a price then it will go on the market, we will wait for it to sell then hopefully be back in England by the summer, ready for kids to start school in September.
My eldest daughter was 15 1/2 when we first started talking about going back, she is now 17yrs old, her dad lives here as she is from my first marriage and her dad and his wife are very good friends of mine and my husbands.
Daughter is talking about staying on here with her Dad to finish her education to University entrance level and then following us to England after this, that will be about 18 months from now.
I am hopeing that when it comes down to it my daughter will change her mind and come with us, however I am proud of the fact that she wants to complete her Bac (French qulification).
So all is happy in or house at the moment, the kids are excited to be seeing the grandparents regularly and hubby and I are looking forward to getting stuck into English life again.
We just hope the house doesn't take too long to sell as the prices are coming down here just as much as they are in England.

Your daughter sounds very sensible in staying in France to finish her exams. If she decides to stay in France after that, at least she's not million miles away. My daughter lives in UK (us in OZ) and it has been so hard not being able to see her.
Good luck with the house sale. Yes it is a bad time to sell, took us 9 months, but you will get there in the end.
