UK University Costs
we are thinking of moving back to UK from Canada, at the same time our son would start university - any idea on how long we would need to live in the UK for to pay UK tuition fees as opposed to international fees ?

Just Google it.
Thr student must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for three full years before the first day of the first year of the course.

If not, up to £30,000 in fees depending on subject.

Re: UK University Costs
As others have noted, usually three years UK residence is required. Worth checking with individual universities though - we too had lived in Canada, for 10 years, when my daughter returned to the UK to do a Masters. Her university made her an offer based on home fees, we think because they took the view that she had moved to Canada with her family at an age where she had no influence on the decision. Perhaps the decision on a Masters is different as well, bearing in mind the shorter corse.

UK Medical School Fees
How much does it cost to study medicine in the UK?
For international students, the average cost of a medicine degree can be as high as £38,000 per year, depending on the medical school. At Leicester Medical School for example, UK and EU students pay the standard £9,250 per year, including the iBSc, but if you live in a non-EU country, the tuition fee for the Medical Degree (MBChB) is £20,590 per year for the first two years, then over £40,000 for years 3, 4 and 5.
If you wish to study at a medical school in the UK, you need to be fully aware of all the costs that are involved and budget accordingly. Alongside costs associated with the course, including tuition fees, textbooks and equipment, you will also need to factor in living expenses such as accommodation, food and travel.
