Never again will they be on the Playstation when you want to watch something. Step up/down transformer will do for both.

On the VCR front, we bought a Pal/NTSC converter, and then plugged our British VCR into the American telly. My brother sends us regular videos from the UK of UK telly, and it's a real pleasure to be able to watch them on our main telly.

My wife wrote a piece on how we had navigated our way around all the electrical and TV related issues, with an annotated photo, at http://uktous.blogspot.com/2006/11/e...ectronics.html [and cf. also an older post at http://uktous.blogspot.com/2006/02/e...ctronics.html]

That's how we coped with it, but as you are already seeing from this thread, others have coped differently.
Thats what we did and what I'd recommend if you're not paying for moving. More for gaming as the OP seems to have highlighted as getting new games are a pain and expensive. Especially if you have loads of old games and dvds.
We didn't have the money to buy DVD and VCR players that plays both UK and US DVDs.
So having another set up for games and DVDs sounds great to me if you have the space.

Good point about who pays for the moving. We were lucky in that work paid for everything so we didn't have to worry about footing that bill.

On DVD players, we bought an American one and then did a handset hack to make it multi regional.

Haven't tried hacking ours yet, scared I'd ruin it and don't really understand how you do it, as long as you don't have to open anything up etc!

Ours paid as well or I wouldn't have done it.

I am supposed to be doing my PP which I've put off until today and I just can't get into it, it normally would be finished by now

We had 8 for an Indian dinner party last night so was busy Mon and Tues doing that, but it was good and they appreciated it. Just got naan bread and poppadoms and that did the trick they were impressed with that and it took their minds of how simple the main dish was

Handset hack is dead easy. You just google the name of your DVD player + the words "handset hack" and follow the instructions. Doddle. And worth it.
