Hi All,
I have a problem..
I am a UK Citizen, my Wife USA.
We had our first "spouse VISA approved" nearly 2 years ago, and my wife moved over September last year.
As her initial VISA will expire before we can apply for the intention to stay thing... we have to apply for another VISA. - no extensions allowed anymore.
Filling in exactly the same form, £600 charge, proof of marriage, bank statements, etc etc..
OK a bit archaic but if it gets the job done right?
We filled this in at the end of October, well in advance of Feb13 deadline (when the Visa actually expires). Luckily.. as progress is laughably slow.
Even to this date we have had no communication from UKBA.. I doubt we are even on the system still (we weren't 2 weeks ago)
Now comes the problem
As part of the VISA I had to send my UK passport with it.
At the time I imagined it would be returned promptly once my ID is proven.
In reality it has disappeared into a black hole. hopefully to be returned within their 6 month deadline of all VISA completion.
Unfortunately I must travel in January for business.
Apparently there is someone you can contact to request the return of on critical documents, without interrupting the VISA process?
Does anyone have any clue?
The UKBA aren't the most useful unfortunately...
They have already told us the wrong people/email twice..
any help is (very) appreciated.
Thanks
Ian

If no one comes on here to answer, you can also try this forum:
www.talk.uk-yankee.com. That forum is primarily geared for US citizens going through the process to stay in the UK, and I'm betting there will be someone on there who has been in the same situation as yourselves.
