I guess this has been done before, but what is it with the main Oz TV channels?
1) Shows deliberately start and finish late (I assume to screw up the IQ and try and make you watch the ads)
2) Old shows are shown in the middle of runs of current shows (eg NCIS)
3) Series (like Flashforward and Fringe) come and go, get moved to different time slots or even different channels, or simply disappear, or reappear with as little publicity as possible so you miss them.
I know I should watch less TV than I do, so maybe this is the Oz way of forcing me outdoors.
This drives me and my OH nuts!

4) Are aired several weeks - month later then the rest of the world!
Good thing there's channel Bit Torrent for proper tv!

Show a preview of what is going to happen next before the ads...just to confuse you and kill any tension

For books I use bookdepository.co.uk. Always cheaper than the extortionate prices here in Oz.
The 4th part of my TV rant is that the OZ channels also put on shows from series out of order! It's as if a big box of DVDs arrives from the US and they just put on whatever comes to hand!
Current example is The Big Bang Theory which if you have even a smidgeon of "nerdiness" in you, you will love. But Channel 9 is showing the series out of order.

Book.com.au compares all the cheap online sites and is even good for
textbooks.
textbooks.

The only way to watch tv shows these days is from http://thepiratebay.org/
It is impossible to watch tv shows in aus I find, the adverts just drive you crazy. How do they expect people to watch a film that is interrupted every 5minutes by 3 minutes of adverts, bloating the movies to 3 or 4 hour marathons.
They interrupt tv shows to give you adverts about the show you were trying to watch!, not to mention the news and weather. If I am watching a show I dont want a news break in the middle of the damn thing. I just find it impossible to get into the show with the constant interruptions
Download them and get adfree shows you can enjoy

For UK shows www.thebox.bz is the best IMO.

The only free tv worth watching in Brisbane are the ABC channels, lots of UK stuff and no ads.
The rest are unwatchable due to the relentless ads and this habit of showing 5 mins of ads towards the end of a program/film, go back to the program for 30 seconds and then go to the next program, what the hell is that all about? I know it's free but I can't put up with that.

Do you have a tv license fee in US/Oz?Canada/Spain? Of course here it is optional. The Japanese tend to pay up out of a sense of duty. I begrudgingly cough up for cable/sat tv but thankfully can order just a Prem footy package so don't get charged for all the other shyte.

You have to add an 'o' to Australian words.
