Default ToR1 question

My ToR1 application was not accepted, the letter says that the jpeg of the council tax bill sent by my brother as evidence was not acceptable as it doesn’t have my name on it….not surprising since I don’t live there!
Since my brother’s house is very small and he wil be inconvenienced if I visit for a month I have decided I would prefer to stay in an airbnb. Has anyone given this as the place they are staying on arrival or would a hotel be better, and more ‘official’ although much more expensive for one on a budget?
Thanks for your advice as always x

A rental agreement with your brother would probably work or any temporary accommodation with your name on it. A covering letter of your intentions regarding accommodation may also help.

When we moved back from Canada last year we supplied a letter from our friend to the effect that she had invited us to stay in her second home and she also supplied a council bill verifying that she owned the property. This satisfied HMRC so maybe your brother could supply you with a similar letter stating that his house will be your home for the time being.

This is what we did in 2022 when our daughter moved back and stayed with us for a few weeks while she bought a house.

We returned on July 1, this year. My husbands brother hand wrote a note saying we were going to stay with them. He also sent us a copy of a utility bill in their name and it was accepted for the ToR1 application.

I submitted a confirmed hotel booking for 3 weeks, along with a very scanty letter from a relative saying I could stay at their home if I still hadn't found a rental, Accepted straightaway.
