Hi Don - Wolverhampton is my home town - but I'll be looking in the Cannock area to live as that seems to have some reasonably priced places for sale. Also my parents live right on the outskirts of Wolves - on the West Midlands/Staffordshire border just down from Coven so they will only be a 30 minute drive away.
Have friends in Fordhouses!!! My Stepsons, used to run the Antiques fairs in Coven, On Sundays, and I did the printing leaflets for them. know that area. Born Walsall, till 14 then West Bromwich, but on leaving School in '44 worked for Birmingham Canal Navigations, in Broad street Wolverhampton, (At 14)and weighbridge in Horseley Fields (Wulfrun Wharf) used to have dinner, in the Dining Rooms, in Pipers Row. Of course, Wolves is now a City. Know Cannock too, used to use the Barley Mow, on the chase. Cannock used to have a good market.. Love Don (Aged 80) |

It's a small world - I was born in Fordhouses and my parents still live there - in the house they moved into when I was a 6 months old!!
I still refer to the City Center of Wolves as the Town Center as that was what it was when I left. Will be there this weekend as it is my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and I am going home for a long weekend to help them celebrate - should have all the kids and the grandkids there for the first time in a long time!! |

Re: This time next year.....
Keep the faith folks, you will achieve it.
last year at this time in USA we spent the Thanksgiving weekend making a start on getting our house prepped as the first step in coming back, but wait, no, the first step was having the ambition like you all have, then we got to work on the house. Now one year on, here we are, transition achieved. Good luck to you all. |

Well, I hope we will have sold up here in Northern Indiana (big job lol ) Moved to North Dorset ,and that our boys will be accepted... but most of all happy :) *If* we are not back then ,we will be back FOR SURE March 2012 . I hope all us on BE have our plans come to fruition :fingerscrossed: I brought a 9 year old and a 3 year old back from the US years ago, they were accepted immediately. I think American children are confident and do well here. Mine have US passports, but are very English. |

I agree ,American kids are very confident -my eldest had to do it the other way round as we came to the US when he had just turned 7. This time he will be 13 , he is a bit of a mix ! My younger son will be 8 ,he is very American (not ALL his accent though ) a he has been in the US from 2 ! My little girl is just 2 ...at least that will be easy :) My eldest has sticky feet about moving again ,if only he knew how English he really is :D |
