When I first looked at this map that is what I thought as well, but on closer examination there does seem to be a distinct pattern, as well to do areas in cities tend to be on yellow as opposed to red. I think a map like this though, really serves to help people who are moving into an area and have no knowledge of that area from a crime perspective, a quick look at a map like this can reveal a lot. I`m not sure though, if a London red is the same as say a Birmingham red.

No colour over our little area either!! Then again, not surprised really as the most shocking thing that's happened here in a while are the town 'youths running rampage around the town. They installed an upturned traffic cone on the head of the town statue and placed pansies around its rim' !!!!!!!!!!!

Shocking, absolutely shocking!!

That's what it looks like to me. Is it a simple count of the number of crimes? Tidbury Green has fewer crimes than Birmingham - yeah, amazing revelation.

Or in our part of West Oxfordshire, a bike theft seems to be the predominant crime in the last 4 months. It makes a lot of sense we have a population of 2,500, I see the same people every day, people all know each other or at least say hello. I think that makes it a lot more difficult for someone to actually commit a crime ie be potentially faced with their victim every day.

If you put in the postcode it gives you a number between 1 and 5.
1= low crime
5 = high crime
