Default Taking prescriptions from US to UK

I as some know will be in UK for 6 weeks this summer. I am on meds still trying to cope with loss of brother. Does anyone know what I will need so don't get hassled by TSA. they are prescription and doctor prepared to write for me. will that suffice? thanks for any response..

Normally you shouldn't have a problem so long as everything is in a prescription bottle/box with your name on it, but it definitely doesn't hurt to get a letter from your Dr stating what medication you are on, so they can compare it to what you're taking out of the country. Just be careful too in case you're planning on buying any OTC medications because if you take them back to the US with you, there might be a problem depending on the ingredients. I found that out the hard when when over the counter paracetamol and codeine (8mg) was taken off me at the airport.

But hope that helps??

Hey Linzi, thanks for responding with all things you have going on. No I won't bring any OTC meds back with me. Hope things improve for you.

+1

We take over prescriptions every time we travel to the UK, in our hand luggage in the original bottles.
