Hi! Has anyone taken a cat from Italy to the UK? I am probably going back to the UK next January and have two cats. They had their anti rabies vac in June and their blood test done in July.
My questions are:
How long does it take your local ASL to issue a Pet Passport?
Do you really have to take your animals to the ASL?
When exactly do you have to have the cats certified as flea and tick free?
Would it be better to go by car or by plane?
Thanks

It's very important that you follow all the rules of Defra, if not you will either be turned back to Italy or your cats will spend six months in a quarantine facility.
I am not sure about the visit to the ASL but your vet should know more about that, the issue of the passport which I believe will come from Defra on a joint effort with the ASL and your vet.
The cats will have to have a worm treatment and flea/tick treatment before you leave, I believe it's 48 hours before you travel.
I will be doing the same thing you are doing next year with my pets, I have been in contact with Defra and they seems to be very helpful. Hope all works out for you, let us know. Giovanni
