Re: Surrey > Brisbane > Surrey > ?????
As asked earlier in this thread...
And even earlier...
A different part of the UK is not an option for you then?
Sometimes it seems that moving country is the only option considered by some people, whereas they could find what they're looking for elsewhere in the UK - especially if they are people who missed family or friends (200 miles or whatever is a whole load closer and easier than the other side of the world!).

Is it also not the case of remembering why you left Australia in the first place too?
Will moving to Australia (again) help with why you left Australia (first time) - that is:
Or to put it in your words - If you are thinking about moving back to Australia - do yourself one favour - think real hard about what you left and why you left!

Ya know.....I used to be on this forum under a different username a few years ago, (several thousand posts and very prolific). I left because I was sick and tired of 'idiots' with nothing better to do, giving people shite all the time. It would appear, that, upon my return, nothing much has changed!

I bet your wife is laying on her bed playing with 'herself' right now!

Why are you avoiding certain questions? They are very pertinent questions that I am asking you, based on the information you have given.

You said in your original post, "hopefully, our experiences will help some of you that are stuck in that godawful situation of not knowing what to do...." - your attitude to (not) answering questions, instead preferring to insult certainly doesn't reflect what you said.
If it goes the same as last time then I hope you enjoy not feeling at home and missing family/friends, history, culture, proximity to Europe as you mentioned in your first post. Seems you may deserve it with your attitude.

I've just asked you questions to find out more about your situation and your thought process in this which in turn may help other people. I've asked direct questions with respect, and not insulted you - in return you've insulted me (twice now).

As you know, if you ask a question on here you may get questions/opinions in reply which you don't really like. That's tough, nature of the forum. If you don't like what's said just ignore it. Cut out the insults. I have better things to do than explain the rules to someone who should know them inside out....

Bertles...if you're existing rather than living in the UK, then that'd be dreadful, the possibility of earning double in Oz would be an obvious lure...but what job do you do that earns double? Have you checked the rates recently? A lot has happened with prices in the past two years here. Food and rent has gone through the roof. In fact, the rises in Australia have been the steepest in the OECD.
What about all the reasons you went back to the UK? Have you enjoyed being amongst history, the humour etc, etc.
We've found that the attitudes you describe in Qld unbearable, but only slightly better in Sydney/Melbourne. But you really have to live in the very expensive areas and socialise amongst the ranks of educated elite to really escape it....or befriend migrants from South America, HK, Sri Lanka etc.
Having said that, I am gobsmacked at how chavvy a good proportion of UK kids are now....and these are the kids of some of our very, very lovely friends. Even yesterday in Sydney there was a woman falling around pissed as a fart...she seemed fun and friendly, and there was that unmistakable humour about her of the Brits but it reminded me of visiting Canterbury with the kids last year and seeing the pubs full at 11am. Maybe I'm just jealous that I can't have a drink during the day without falling asleep.
What I'm trying to say is that each culture has it's own social wasteland, probably a case of working out which is easier to live with. Seeing boozed-up chavvy Poms is a bit sad, but I never feel more alone or isolated when in Australia faced again with having to explain a joke or not being able to have a discussion that ranges outside sport. I'd give my big house with lovely views up tomorrow in exchange for a lively conversation.

I feel your pain
A large factor in us returning is the cost of living here in Surrey. We can just about afford the rent on the pokiest, draughtiest place whilst slogging our guts out to pay the bills. End of month - never any money to do anything!! We are wasting our lives watching TV and staring at the walls!
Different story in Oz completely! I actually earned nearly double my salary here doing the same job!!!

Just thought that there maybe a few more issues you should look into! Lots of Luck

Hi Bertles I was wondering whether you had checked out the DIAC website recently? There have been some major changes and for a lot of people it is not looking good. As you have lived in OZ before can I ask you what visa did you apply for? Was it PR? Would you be entitled to the RRV? Is being sponsored by an employer an option for you? Does your partner/wife have any relevant qualifications? Would you be trying to gain employment in your former/current job? I know a couple of years ago OZ was looking for migrants in your occupation, however, this has now changed as I'm sure you are aware.
