Wondered if anyone may have some advice on relocating within the UK?
Myself and my 12 year old daughter moved back to the UK in September (I had lived in Barbados for 17 years). Its been a pretty grim experience from day one, with me not been able to find work and missing my friends and old life! We did plan on going back in June, but now have hit a brick wall with regard to a suitable school for my daughter, the suitable options are full and for one her marks were not high enough for them to accept her! So in the event I can't get her into a decent school over there, it looks like we may have to stay here for her education (which may I add, has been great, shes loving school over here and definately improving).
I am currently living at my Mums is the middle of nowhere, she lives in a small village in the Yorkshire Dales, which is so remote, limiting job options and having a social life and trying to make friends.
So in the event we do have to stay in the UK then I need to think about moving somewhere that has more to offer, does anyone have any suggestions on some nice places to consider??
Thanks

If you want to stay within traveling distance of your mum, good towns to look at would be Ilkley, Skipton and Harrogate. All have very good schools, plenty of ways to meet new people and are within commuting distance from Leeds for greater work opportunities. (Leeds is doing very well economically compared to lots of other British cities). For an even busier social life, there's York. And anywhere in the Harrogate area puts you within easy commuting distance of both Leeds and York which will widen the job opportunities even further.
If you don't mind about being further from her, I'm sure lots of people will have suggestions in other counties.
I do envy you though .... the Yorkshire Dales are so beautiful!
