Default Spousa Visa Sponsor Passport expires Feb 2024

Hi guys,

My husband's Passport is due to expire in Feb 2024. We've just applied for my (and our sons) visa's to relocate back to the UK with him. If he was to renew his Passport, could we do this while my visa application is being processed? Or would we need to wait until the visa application process has been completed and just renew it once we're back in the UK. My only concern is if there are an requirements for a Passport to be valid for x many months when we're flying back to the UK and going through transit countries (our main option is a route via New York).

Thoughts?

As a British passport holder then his passport only needs to be valid for the proposed duration of his stay in the US.

I suggest he renews his passport now. Most country want to at least 3 or 6 months left before expiry. Also if he gets a new passport the passport number will be different which could cause a lot of confusion if passport details are different on a visa application.
