Hi all,
I have done a search but not got anything.
We will have a company come in to give us a quote in a couple of weeks once I've had a sort out but in the mean time I was wondering if shipping from Australia to the UK is any different than when we came out. Do things have to be as spot less? I've located the fixings for the washing machine drum but wondered how long does it have to sit before we load it on? Same for fridge freezer and does the tumble dryer need securing (haven't got anything for that).
Thanks in advance.

I did'nt think any appliances or electric items worked due to the different voltage . I have heard that people have to buy converters. Maybe I am wrong. Could anyone advise.

Someone on here did ship the fridge from Aus I forget who. But it ended up in the garage unused as it wouldn't fit through the door into the house.
Why would you both? The ones in UK are really nice now. They sell big ones too.

I have heard that you can't buy top loading washing machines in the UK. Is that right?

we shipped all our electrical and garden equipment from NZ to UK in January things we didn't even bother to take to NZ such as wellies(gum boots) we brought back no problem, nothing was inspected we had camping gear, bikes etc where as giong out half of our container was!
Our Washing machine did not had the bolts in still going! We have not used our fridge yet as the rental has one built in and the other op maybe right about size the same with sofas you have to remember UK houses are a lot smaller then those in the southern hemissphere in fact we sold a lot of furniture before we returned!

Hi
We had three companies come around this week. They all quoted on shipping the fridge, freezer, washing machine and bbq. No worries there and you get a card/page telling you how to prepare everything for the trip. You might have an issue with volumes though. Each of our fridge and freezers is a cubic meter and you've only got 28 of those in a 20ft container. Washing machine is 1/2 cubic meter, six burner is another cubic meter. It all soon adds up and one of the estimator reckoned we had 43 cu.meters of possessions (enough for a 40ft!) Scary stuff

I bought a new washer and drier a couple of weeks ago and they did not have any top loaders. I asked why and they said that they just did not sell so all machines at your Currys and the like, are front loaders. They also said that you generally have to have a higher water pressure to run alot of top loaders , which the UK lacks.

You can buy top loaders in the U.K. The Whirlpool machine that you can buy here (which is American) is available. Regarding water pressure, if it was low pressure it would take longer to fill but would still work fine.
The muppets in Currys don't know their arse from their elbow!

While I was in the UK i had a great front loader. It did a "shower wash". Now growing up in Canada with loads of water pressure - I had my doubts at first. But it was amazing! It used less water and the clothes were lovely and clean! The big bonus was I bought it at an auction - paid 25 quid. When i ping ponged back over to Canada i gave it to my cousin before i left. She is still using it and i got it from the Auction in Aug 2000.
