Shipping....which companies go Oz to UK? And about how much for a container? How much fits in ....and can you get half-containers (or are we just engaging in wishful thinking!!!)

We used OSS Worlwide Removals - we only had a 1 bedroom place but we did have a lot of exercise equipment ( running machine, weights, multi gym) along with corner sofa unit; a large amount of rock climbing equipment; 42" LCD TV; bed; bedroom furniture; loads of solid wood furniture .... can't remember size of container ( I think it was just under a full load) but it cost $4600 including packing and insurance.... they came out and assessed the amount of stuff and quoted from there.

We had 3 quotes and theirs was best!

Good luck with the move - once its all booked you can just look forward to the moment you step of the plane!

Hey Ezzie, just watched you on TV. You chose Sydney!

We used Kents. 20 ft container cost us $7,800...we fit most of the furniture in that, but we did sell alot of stuff too. And we had loads of stuff i tell ya!

By the way you have a very lovely family.

Thanks mate. We had a lot of pressure on us to say 'UK'. Horrible process making the program. We were the last and Caroline Gee was hugely preggers, knackered and probably cheesed off with the whole thing by then. I don't think she actually said more than two words to us.

I'm not sure I want to see it...did we look like complete plonkers!

You looked great - the first real family out of the ones I've watched. (No offence meant to anyone else as I haven't seen them all).

Well done and good luck xx

We just watched it....well, our computers slow so we kind of watched 'stills' of the video. My golly....they missed out so much of what we did! The editing was actually brilliant & I think they did a good job. Except we were aware that we were being shown crap over-priced homes so I went out and found Steve's house. It's a fabulous house and I'm still in love with it.

God no not at all, you looked cool and relaxed.

A friend of mine told me on Monday that you were going to be on TV Thurs. So i made myself and the kids sit down and watch it all the way through lol...

Seems most choose the UK though.

Hi this site is really good noting all the shippers etc....so thank you....I am a bit confused though (not very hard I must say..lol) I have not watched the programmes...sorry...but with your thread I thought you were returning to the U.K.....then Nu-Shooz (now this is where I got confused..lol)said you choose Sydney.......which way are you heading?.... good luck and best wishes to you either way.....I can now say I have e-mailed a t.v star.....
anyone think it's best to just try and sell their furniture and keep just the sentimental items?......not just about the cost but would also just like to start afresh with the lovely furniture you see in the u.k mags......

You looked great, and have wonderful kids.
I was shocked at the decision seeing I've been reading you were asking about shipping on here
So what changed? Did the work front get better for your Dh in the UK or are you moving to another area instead of the midlands.
You are my inspiration, I've been in US for pretty much the same amount of time you were in OZ (minus my one year home in the early 90's) The amount of time here has been weighing on my mind. I'm ready to pack and get on with it.
Dh was moved here when he was your sons age, and didn't want to come. Seeing there's no family left here to keep us (one sister we see once a year) we may as well go home, he has more family in UK than I do.
Here's hoping your move is smooth, are you selling that lovely home or renting it out?
