What shippers did people use? How much these days for half container?

I was going to post an almost identical question so thank you for this - you beat me by a day.

I'm actually interested in a quarter of a container (no furniture) just lots of old tat, books, and crud. Collecting lots of this stuff is the effect of living in the USA for 25 years.

Also, did anyone get everything delivered to a self store room? I'm going to be in a couple of places for the first few months, so not 100% sure when I'll be at any one address... And no. I don't have family that I could use to get things sent to for that time.

Hi if you only have clothes and a few bits look at sendmybags , or send my baggage,It a lot cheaper then shipping that takes months,look at both websites

Quick tip if your delivery will be to self store - if you are taking shipping insurance, ensure you unpack and check everything on delivery as most insurance terms and conditions have a time limit for reporting any damage, some may even only cover to the point of delivery if self store is the final contracted destination.

Another alternative, is many international removal companies will have their own storage facility where they can hold the goods until you're ready for final delivery to your address once you've settled.

Hi, I used upackweship a few years ago ,it takes about 3 months as it goes by ship .because I did not have a place to live yet at the time they stored it for me check these people out ask them cost to store for a few months.If you have boxes

We moved back to the UK from the US east coast back in May. We used bluemove - after getting a number of quotes and different options. Total cost was $10k for a 20' container door to door. Total ship time was a nominal 15 days, although it was delayed a few days due to docking delays at Southampton.

Ah yes. The "other half of the city".

I am eyeing an apartment in the Marina. Right in the middle of my budget too. I remember it all being built. My Dad used to sell hardware (nuts, bolts, screws, hinges etc) and supplied the initial build of the place. All very ironic as a result of that now...

Bit cheaper and a bit quieter along this way, which suits me now! However I'm right on the Kingsway so get the full force of the weather, wind storms are amazing!!

The Marina would be an equally fantastic spot though. I remember my very first visit there, must've been the early 80s, for a boat show while I was at college. In those days it was possible to just walk along wooden pontoons and admire the boats. Watching it grow over the next 20 years was fascinating, and visiting it now to see so many apartment blocks is a real eye-opener! Go for it!!
