Default sending goods back to uk

Our daughter has recently returned to the uk, and now needs her hockey bag and sticks sent over, I have been quoted $295 by an airline and $560 from fed ex. The bag only weighs 3kgs. Does anyone know of a better and much cheaper way of sending the stuff over, thanks

How about the post. Not sure about NZ but our friends posted our CD player to us in the UK for about £15 via Australian Post we were quoted £90+ by a courier company. It took a while as we took the 3 month option but it wouldnt have cost much more to get it sooner. It might be worth asking at the post office.
