Question Selling a car

I need some advice about selling my Mazda Protege 2002. I am the only owner, have maintained it consistently, it is in decent condition, has about 116,000 miles. It is located in Duluth, MN. I need to sell it in the next three weeks and have no idea how to start doing this. I have been told the following: put it on Craigs List; put 'For Sale' signs in the windows. In past experience, Craigs List sometimes works, sometimes has weird people, so I am unsure about that angle. Does anyone have personal experience selling a car - for about $4000 - not a knock down price, and if so, can they please advise me. Thanks.

Had a look at the Carmax site - they are located many hundreds of miles away from my current location, so no go.

Do you (or do you have a friend) who works at a reasonably large workplace in the local area? (School district, County Offices, college or university, factory etc.?) Because they may have an informal work-based grapevine that can be an effective way to sell things (e.g. workplace listserv etc.).. a 2002 Mazda Protege should be easy to sell, someone looking for a vehicle for a child etc. People would regard a workplace-based recommendation as more reliable than just seeing a car by the side of the road with a "for sale" sign.
