Re: That Saturday Feeling
One of the things I've missed most is a decent bacon sandwich.
We lived near Manchester for a while and there was one of those caravans in the carpark of the local retail park that did the most wonderful bacon barms. We'd go there on a weekend morning and sit in the car with a bacon barm with loads of brown sauce, and cup of tea.

Bacon here tastes weird, just like the chocolate...but like everything else, you get used to it.

I've gotten used to some of the US bacon. We managed to get some Danish back bacon the other week and I couldn't get over how salty it was. I guess, after 6 years, my taste buds have adjusted.

I just wish we could get sausages here even "slightly" similar to those from back home
All we get here are smokies, breakfast sausage or fatty, gristly sausages. I miss the Richmonds thick links the most, the last sausages I bought here were from Costco and I ended up chucking them away with all the gristle ewwwww

Re: That Saturday Feeling
I miss all those things, but what about crumpets drooling in butter on a Sunday afternoon?
Saturdays - shopping, a curry or a lager in a DECENT pub!
Sundays - church, car boot and going for walks

The only nightclubs I went to were in Bristol, one was called Roxy's and the other was called The Granary. Granary was for your Led Zep, Black Sabbath custom bike riding types (like my sister and her friends), Roxy's was more for your sportbikes and Van Halen types (like me). Both lots tolerated each other though in both clubs. T'was tres cool [/QUOTE]
Blimme - that's bought back some memories ! The Granary is closed now isn't it ?
Oh to be young again

The Granary is still there, and still called The Granary. Looks like its been turned into luxury flats now. If you know those clubs, did you also drink at 'The Mardyke' in Hotwells? (wine bar now )
Know what you mean about being young again.

Wasn't The Mardyke the biker's pub, opposite where the ferries let you off? I went there on a booze cruise years ago, and there were people looking like ZZ Top in there staring at us (cos us girlies clearly did not belong there!)
I spent a happy evening last August at the Llandoger Trow - now that MUST have been a 'haunt' of yours then? Speaking of which, they did a 'Most Haunted' prog from there too; Yvette Fielding p**ing her pants in the cellar!! V. funny.

Yep, the Mardyke was (near enough) opposite the SS Great Britain. Lovely on a summers evening, sat on the pavement outside. Other pubs in Bristol we used to go to were the Admiral Bembo, The Crown (near the covered markets) , The Bear at Melksham. And another nightclub was Hobbits Hole at Weston-Super-Mare.
Ah, yoof. It were grand
