Default Returning to the UK as a temporary thing? or is this it?

I just wondered how many are returning (or have returned) to the UK knowing that eventually they will settle elsewhere...maybe somewhere in Europe or back to USA/Canada/OZ? or do they know that the UK is it for good?

We are returning back to the UK mainly for family and are hopefully thinking of still retiring somewhere hot...Italy or somewhere! It would be interesting to hear how you all feel. Do we all have a bit of gypsy in us?

I can imagine wanting a little place in a sunny climb somewhere but cetainly not full time. I will always want to live part of the year in Britain. I won't be making that mistake again! My family have apartments in Turkey and Crete and none of them would wish to be there all year. I guess it wouldn't be a novelty anymore and they choose the wonderful times of the year with regard to weather to come and go as they please.

It'll be a few years before I retire (that'll teach me for having kids so late) but I hope we'll do lots of suny hols abroad and around the UK in the meantime.

what type of health insurance do you get in other countries? I know my friends husband became ill so they had to return to the Uk for treatment.

Can't imagine we'll be in the UK for ever more but certainly for the next 10yrs or so. I can see us ending up in Europe. Somewhere a bit warmer but not stinking hot and devoid of culture like here.

But that's way off. The UK will be regarded as home for sure.

Our family are off back to the UK later this year. We are in Spain...

...I would like to think that we will get old in a warmer climate maybe come back to Spain.

I'd like to be able to afford a little bolthole in Spain - for holidays or for the winter.. yes winter in Spain, summer in the UK. Perfect..

It has been expensive for us in the US. Even with insurance the Co-pay has worked out very expensive for anything more than a cut!!

Well.... been back for a little over 7 months and not even close to feeling settled.

Got my partner moving over here in May (fingers crossed), so hopefully that will help matters. But I can't see staying here indefinitely - perhaps for 5 years or something. Don't want to become a 'ping-pong Brit', but didn't have a choice in moving back either.

Also found the US expensive in a lot of ways, but I did love it there.
