Returning to UK - drivers license
We have been in Canada since July 07 and surrendered our British drivers licenses. We are returning home very soon and our Canadian licenses is up for renewal which we don't intend to renew.
As we will need to hire a car, when we enter the UK, does anyone know if we can use a photocopy of our UK licenses, as our Canadian licenses will have expired on the day we leave.?
Thanks

Hope no-one minds me jumping in here with my question: I am hoping to return to Scotland from South Africa, does anyone know if I need to apply for an International Driving Licence or can I just go to Scotland with my current South African Driving Licence and 'swap' it for a British one?

Can't you take out an international licence, before your Canadian one expires? These are valid for 12 months

I have been looking at the DVLA website, and various others to try to find out how much it costs to replace my Ontario licence for a UK one; I know I can drive on the Ontario licence for 12 months, as Canada is adesignated country, but I will then need to exchange it........anybody know how much these things cost these days?

Re: Returning to UK - drivers license
We got our Canadian licences in June 07 and they expire in 2013. Do you know why yours expires so soon?
I suspect that it would be easier for you to pay a few dollars to renew the Canadian ones, then it will give you time to play when you get back to the UK - where I presume you can just swap them back again ....
Landing without a current licence for either country will cause you more hassle than you need
