Removals info

Dont know if this of any help to anyone.
I have got a few quotes from removal agents, and from what i can gather,
4 cubic metres to the UK came in at approx $1430, 10 cubic metres at about $3200. They said that each cubic metre you have is about $300.
You can fit about 8 standard cartons (about 60 x 40 x 45cm) in a cubic metre. A double bed and mattress is considered 1.7cubic m. Wahing machine 0.6cubic m. Lounge suite 3cubic m. I have a full list of what every piece of furniture etc measures (according to removalists) if anyone wants to know the info let me know. All the above info courtesy of Chess, Pickfords and Kent.
Thought some of that info might be useful to someone

Thanks Cherry, I will start looking at prices (I don't want to tempt fate etc etc) we came over from the U.K with Robinsons and here in Perth Grace...10 years ago it seems so much cheaper than going back....not sure what we will sell here, some say everything......most of our things are fairly new (ish) , some things I would want to sell....what size container are you thinking of using? most people who have gone home seem to use either a 20ft or 40ft container.....a neighbour hired a container and loaded it themselves over a week, they gave me the companies number and said they were really good and a lot cheaper......

I probably wont take much back. My lounge suites are quite big (so probably wont fit into UK lounge), wont risk taking the plasma tv, or the other smaller tvs, just will take a few selected bits and pieces. My babys cot as its gorgeous, a sleigh cot, so will take that. i wont take any electrical stuff as have had bad experience with that and removals previously. Ours wont come to more than 10 cubic metres so a container would be too big for us.
I am taking my plasma's home, they are brand new and will work in UK. I don't want to take half the stuff we have here, prefer to buy new stuff with our new life

I thought Pickfords went bust

40ft container was from $12,000.00 to $14,000.00 but will knock this price down nearer the time.
Move from Brisbane to Manchester.
Hope this helps.

We've just had Chess, Int Movements and Pickfords out... they are climbing over each other for the business. Chess were the cheapest @ $7000 for sole use of a 20' container. Int Movements and Pickfords were a bit more expensive ($8500) but both said they would try to improve their quote in an effort to win the business...
$11,300 for sole use of a 40' container if we take the car...
All prices from Brisbane to Tilbury docks excluding insurance cover.
Wrigways are coming out on Tuesday to do an inspection, expecting much the same as the previous quotes though!
Roll on the house sale, first open house tomorrow... fingers crossed!!! (not expecting much of a turn-out though, judging by how quiet the market seems to be at the mo).
Oh, if we go for a 40' container groupage (25m3 of our stuff + our car + other peoples stuff) its a good price at $8600 but it takes longer to get to England as the container sits at the yard in Brissy until full - could be as much as 12 or 13 weeks instead or 8-10 if you have sole use...
Good luck with your moves everyone!!
