Default Redirecting mail?

I am curious as to how other returnees handled this. Maybe its my post office but it just doesn't seem to be set up for redirecting mail overseas for a few months. There is a premium forwarding service, which forwards all mail, but a lot of the stuff we get we wouldn't want forwarded (fliers, charity begging letters etc)

The hold option seems to work for just 30 days. Do you really just have to get a friend to sort thru the mail and send on relevant stuff?

Thanks in advance,
Susie.

Just contact everyone you need or want to and don't worry about anyone else. Surely everybody has email and mobiles anyway these days ?

Yes, we will inform as many people and/or businesses as possible.
But you know there's always one or two you forget....happened when we left Ireland also. Plus the final bills for utilities, though maybe they will accept a credit card number to fix those up...

When we left Canada, we paid the post office a set sum to forward any mail for 6 mths.....It doesn't cost anymore for the junk..just bin it.

But you answer your own misgivings. Everyone you want to keep in touch with has a telephone, email or you have their adress. Likely all three.

You know your finance and utilities arrangements so sorting them out is not a problem.

Seriously, are you in the habit of getting important mail from people you are not in touch with ?
