We moved from Ontario to the UK in January. Our. Bank in Canada was TD Canada Trust. We used them to transfer the proceeds from the sale of our home to our UK bank. Because of the large amount involved we got a much better rate than expected. Very happy! And easy bank to bank transfer. We did let our UK bank know that we would be transferring the funds before hand.
Also, make sure you transfer the funds before you leave Canada as you have to go into the bank to move the transfer. Some folks on here said they had to fly back in order to do it.
Maybe check with your bank about exchange rates/fees for large transfers. Rates change constantly but it should give you some basis for comparison.
Best wishes on your move.

We just moved a chunk of money back to the UK from the US. We compared Wise, OFX and our local bank - and while our local bank was fractionally more expensive we went with them since it was a direct bank-bank transfer and done in under 1 day.
