thing that really struck us is that most people seem to be doing OK...lots of new landrovers and mini's around, trips abroad etc. After years earning the pretty weak Canadian loonie and having to save that bit more if we wanted to go overseas its good to

Of course people are "doin well" - they are the people spending all the equity in their homes!!!!

for younger peope who love parts of london we cant afford it!!!

yep, if I was looking to be a first-time home owner, the thought of buying a house in London right now would make my hair stand on end. But I think you could argue that its a similar story in other big cities...take Sydney or Melbourne or Auckland say...the housing 'bubble' might not be as pronounced as in London, but if you were a first-time home owner in those cities and wanted to buy some-where downtown...well I don't think that would be affordable either, relative to wages etc
