In fact the only bad thing about the country is the tranquility of the place and so it would be easy to die of boredom.

Bit like Buenos Aires. Sorta like Barcelona. Many people think it is third world but actually it is in many ways more European than London, definetly better coffee!

Exactly, Buenos Aries seems so european that its possibly the most european city in the world:lol: Montivideo is just like being in a european city as well, Barcelona is by far the most european city in Spain and certainly the most happening place as well, by the way I hate coffee!!! I love tea though, its one of the bad un-european habits that I picked up from the UK.

Exactly, and inspite of your average patriotic Brit getting all bent out of shape about "Argies" and the "Falklands" they actually are very interested in us Brits and extremely accommodating. Plus they have outstanding weather, amazing food & wine, beautiful countryside, laid back culture, awesome nightlife etc etc. If you like big cities you should love BA.

The average Argentinian is very pro European and along with Uruguay its by far the most european country in latin america and I`d agree Brits are most welcome there. The average Argentinian couldn`t care less about the Falklands as its so far away. You are also talking about a country that embraces all the climates so yer its special and one day I`d like to see a lot more of the country.

Its not that you`re wrong because the slums, poverty and drug dealers etc are all very real. For example when I lived in Lima you quickly discover that there are 4 classes there 1)The upper classes the ruling elites of european origin who live the luxurious lifestyle and they are a very small % of the population 2)The middle classes who can live at times as well as their european/north american counterparts but they constantly live though in fear of being victims of crime 3)The working classes that form a large % of the population and they normally live in similiar conditions to that of very poor people in europe etc. 4)The underclasses some 30% of the population that inhabit the shanty towns who survive on a day to day basis, this is poverty that you`ve never seen before and left me shocked...the lucky ones had running water, electricity and a roof over their heads.

When you live in a country like this, you have to learn the rules very quickly about how things are and by doing this you can easily avoid any problems and never come into contact with the ugly aspect that exists there.

Certain countries are dangerous, for example Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil are but then again they have their safe areas as well. Argentina, Uruguay and Chile are not considered dangerous and are probably on a par with most western european countries for safety.
