Default Pronunciation of "data"

Over in the dingo forum the debate is raging about the pronunciation of certain words in Oz. This has spawned a minor side discussion about how Americans pronounce the word "data".

Just to make sure I don't live and work in a strange pocket of linguistic oddballs who pronounce the word differently from the rest of the USA, I thought I might throw it out to you lot. If you can be arsed.

Aha...the old dayta/darta carstle/castle debate.

Victoria: Mother tried to teach me "carstle", and dayta. I chose castle and dayta.

Moved to Sydney when I was 21. It was all carstle/darta/charnce/darnce. Has been ever since.

Shouldn't option 3 be 'dadda'?

I honestly don't know. Sometimes it feels right to pronounce it one way, and sometimes the other.

I'm going to be analyzing this I just know it. Sigh.

T-glottalization: realizing non-initial /t/ as a glottal stop instead of an alveolar stop, e.g. Data (pronounced as [daʔə]).
