Haa, ha. The sellers are French and have already moved to Scotland! ( where I'm originally from )
Have worked out it will take about 10 - 15k to put the house right after getting it for 199k.
But the house directly across the cul de sac sold last year for 300k!!!! EEEEK.
Happy to hold onto it for 2-3 years and see how the market lies then.
Pritty sure we've won a watch with it! Can't wait to get in there now.

I put an offer for 20K less than the asking price on a house near Halifax, they flatly refused. We also had another offer refused. Why won't people drop where i am

I just refuse to offer the over priced asking price, the houses are just not worth it.
I'd love to live in York, you had a rocky start pearly, but look at you now...i'm green with envy lol

Hiya mate!!!
Good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you're getting your offers declined. This house we've got - we only managed to get it on the FOURTH offer!! Up until our last one, all our other offers were refused. I think the only thing that swung it for us was coz we had a mortgage in principle, deposit and no chain AND we took our architect mate 'round with us when we viewed it so that probobly looked good as well. I also think we were just lucky.
Managed to get the house in a GREAT location - about an 8 min walk down to town itself!
Come to York!!!!!
We viewed a lovely 3 bed 1930s semi in York ( around the corner from the house we've bought! ) On for 235k - definately negotiable as deceased estate. AMAZING gorgeous garden, garage, driveway and plenty scope to improve. Brilliant, quite posh street. It was a VERY close second to the one we picked in the end.
I start work on Monday ( my birthday!! ) so things falling into place slowly over this way. It's definately ALL GOOD though!
Keep at it.
lotsa love,
